The Streetbox is a small roadside pollution monitor. It was developed in 1998, by Lee Fairbrother and Dr Ben Croxford and revolutionised the way pollution data was gathered in the UK for over 10 years. Priced at 1/10th of existing products at the time the monitor and its variants, went on to sell over 500 units in the UK in the first 5 years after its launch. The product is battery powered in its original configuration and can gather data on roadside pollution for up to 6 months. The design won a Millennium award in 2000 and a Dti Smart award for Fairbrother in 2003.
