Talk:Storkyrkan
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I'm not terribly satisfied about the pictures I took. The copyrighted picture that used to be at sv:Storkyrkan is a lot better since it seems to have been taken from a boat (or the opposite shore even). I think we should include one of the bell tower, since it's hard to discern from that low angle. Anyone who can get both the back facade and the bell tower in the same pic should try for it.

I believe - though my Swedish is far from perfect! - that the sv. article specifically calls this a cathedral. While that is implicit from the en. categorisation, it's not actually mentioned specifically here - should someone who is more certain put it in? --TheGrappler 02:02, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
- It is mentioned: "...it has also been the cathedral of Stockholm since the Diocese of Stockholm was broken out from the Archdiocese of Uppsala in 1942." Uppland 10:19, 30 December 2005 (UTC)

- Yes, it's formally a cathedral. However, it's almost never referred to as such (using the Swedish words for cathedral, "domkyrka" or "katedral"). This is probably because it's a recent thing, and the fact that the church didn't have cathedral status (as in seat of a diocese) when it was built. --BluePlatypus 05:14, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
