I work as an English professor at a university in South Africa. (Given the recent controversy around another so-called academic, I feel it necessary to add that I'm not lying about that! It really is how I earn my living!) My research interests include medieval literature, Arthurian texts, science fiction, cyberpunk, fantastic literature, children's literature, and female bildungsromans.

In my spare time, I play tennis, do pilates, and practise shukokai karate. I've taken part in a number of karate championships, and hope to make the national team in a few years time. I also am a keen gamer, a comic-book fan, and an all-around geek!
