Its historical usage is as follows: This coat of arms is an approximate reflection of the current coat of arms granted to St. Helens by the College of Arms in 1876 and in use since that date. The Coat of Arms is copyright of St. Helens Borough Council, however this is a low quality representation..Further details: ARMS: Argent two Bars Azure over all a Cross Sable in the first and fourth quarters a Saltire Gules and in the second and third a Griffin sergeant of the third. CREST: On a Wreath of the Colours a Lion passant guardant proper charged on the body with two two Fleurs-de-Lys Gules resting the dexter fore paw on an Ingot of Silver.
