[edit] Reducing the Oeuvre

I have to admit I was always perplexed by the radically different forms of inscription that Strong illustrated for van der Meulen in English Icon. Not only are the capital A's very distinct, but the abbreviations of "anno" are different. The recent discovery of his will dated 1563 and proved January 1564 (it's in Hearn) means anything formerly atrributed to van der Meulen but dated 1564-68 has got to be by someone else. - PKM (talk) 17:29, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

The "condition report" on Sotheby's website notes "The correct dates for the artist are Fl.1543-1563," correcting the information in the 2007 printed catalogue. I've added that to the footnote about acceptance of the will. - PKM (talk) 19:46, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
I'vs also uploaded Van der Meulen's portrait of Thomas Percy, Earl of Northumberland, 1566. - PKM (talk) 19:46, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
