[edit] Discography
- The discography stuff needs some major styling/formating work. Some wikification on the first portion of the article would be nice as well. 168.156.251.65 18:54, 20 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Narnia
- Why is Narnia album in the discography, while countless other compliations he was in are not listed? Jake0geek 07:23, 26 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Edits to videography and awards
- I have removed the (very incomplete) videography section.
- I formatted only the awards/nominations I thought were worth being in an encyclopedia article (I don't think CCM reader awards belong on the list)
- I have removed the #1 singles list because there was no chart info
If someone wishes to look at the original listing of videography, awards, singles, it can be found in this previous version

[edit] Article needs a lot of help...
This article suffers from several problems, the first being that until my edits of 10/23/2005, the content was very POV. The second problem is the shear weight of superlatives that were used making this read like its a fan-page, not an encylcopedia entry. The third problem is that the artcile is about Steven Curtis Chapman, not his father, not his sons- those element belong in the bottom half of the article. This article still lacks in verifiable facts and needs them to add value to the entry. Stu 00:26, 24 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Removed mini bios
I removed all the miniature biographies about his family members. For instance: "The illustrations are done by Mary Beth's brother, Jim Chapman, who is a public school art teacher and former member of the country group, 4RUNNER." While interesting, it's not really relevent. Same goes for all the bits about the kids. Lots of artists credit their kids, and how far do you go with the mini bios? "Chapman's garbage man Bob is a former security guard for the First National Bank of Kentucky and practices Judo on Wednesday night while writing songs for his band The Yellow Pancake." Well, you get the point. :) -Foofy 11:01, 28 October 2005 (UTC)

- Your edits were wonderful. I was tenative about making the types of changes that you did because of a prior expirience on Wikipedia where I was attacked for doing as you did (that was when I was under another account name). I did remove the mention of "Sparrow Records" from the first sentence - my thinking on that is the article about Chapman the artist, not Chapman the Sparrow records artist. [edit] Mentions of family
The only area I see where some mention of family would be worthwhile would be insofar as they can be said to have a major impact on SCC, and even then, only to the extent of their influence on him. For example, one interview I was reading while hunting better info for the article mentioned that many of his early musical influences came from what was played in his dad's music store. This article could be quoted (I'll be back to do so) with some mention of the influences and also some mention of his early experiences playing music for church with his father. (This is comparable to information in the bios of many of the major secular artists.)
I added one line of summary of the Grammy and GMA awards because they go to WP:Notability and are objective, verifiable measures (as opposed to vague statements such as "most popular" and the like). I'll plan to come back this week and include some of the information I'm culling from various searches online; I'm trying to find just how long he's been a spokesperson for World Vision, but don't worry, I won't turn it into an article or ad for WV.Lawikitejana 05:40, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] At what point do awards and nominations justify a separate list?
The list is in danger of taking over the article. Granted, without the list, the article's much shorter, but maybe that would inspire lengthening the article appropriately. For an example of the list being separate, compare Selena and List of Selena awards and achievements. This is the kind of thing I have in mind; nonetheless, it could be argued that the sheer length and volume of the material relating to Selena's life and especially the events of her death and the aftermath made it necessary to break apart the achievements list in a way that isn't necessary for the SCC article. Just raising the question, that's all. Lawikitejana 18:38, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
- I concur. I just removed a reference to his album "The Musical Blessings" from the "2005" subsection of the GMA Music Awards Wins. The user that added the reference likely had lost track of what this section really was simply because it's so long, and in their confusion, thought it was just a timeline of events in the subject's life or such. Is there any better presentation of that information than a long one column list? I don't have any good suggestions, unfortunately. --LoadStar 05:14, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Album : Now and Then
I'm removing the Wiki link for the Album "Now And Then" as there is no Wiki article for it. Daniel 07:48 2nd November 2006
[edit] Album cleanup
A bunch of his albums (especially the earlier ones) are little more than heading and tracklistings. I intend to bring this up to the Contemporary Christian Music WikiProject: Articles Needing Attention category. WAVY 10 19:54, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Comfort, peace, and unconditional love.
Dearest Chapman family, Our hearts and prayers of many are going up right now as we are finding out about your beautiful gift that has been given back to her Creator. Words might not express the impact you have had on so many lives, by the lives you have touched through your heart for adoption. Your child's life you know was not in vain. Through your testimony about three years ago at the Continental Arena concert, you shared your heart Steven on how someone sent you a picture of a little girl you were holding. I remember that you said when you looked at that picture you didn't see yourself holding a child, but you saw yourself holding your daughter. That night before you even shared that, just through song, it confirmed in my heart that God willing I would want to adopt one day. The other thing was my cousin and husband were in the audience that same evening, and I knew in my heart my cousin was going to tell me she wanted to adopt. Well, by God's grace, around three years later, my cousin, her husband, and daughter just came back from China with their beautiful new baby daughter Gracie Victory Ramella. They are already trying to apply for a second. So, in some small way Maria's life will always live on by the inspiration she has provided for others to adopt. God has used her life as a gift to many of us. And, may this in some way continue to comfort all of you at this time and always, that her young life has touched 100's, 1000's for ever!
