[edit] Prof

Someone has added the title "Prof" to Steve Webb. I think it has happened before and been reverted on the basis that he doesn't currently hold a Professorship (although he has done in the past). I don't have a strong feeling on this, but those with more knowledge of etiquette in these things might have a view. SMeeds 09:29, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

I agree. In fact there are two points: first, as he doesn't hold a professorship (and hasn't for ten years) he shouldn't be addressed as professor; secondly, even if he were a professor, we don't normally include the title in the lead, and it shouldn't be part of the bolded name (as it's not part of the article's title). --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 10:49, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
