My name is Andrew Southwold and I'm his 28 year old grandson by his eldest son. The man's life is an unbelievable story. His experiences in the First World War may have inspired much of his writing, but they also cast long shadows over the rest of his life. He died 14 years before my birth and I've never read any of his adult books. Nevertheless. he's always been an alter ego to me. I see many mirrors and continuations of his scars in my own life.
My aunt has written an excellent biography of him, that has never been published. If anyone is interested in his work and would like to read about his life and his romance with his wife, juat let me know.
