Dr. Bourne left Bell Labs and moved to Silicon Graphics, but so did another Steven Bourne. If you called SGI and asked for Dr. Bourne, they would say "Which Dr. Bourne?"

"Steven Bourne" - - "Which Steven Bourne?"

"Steven R. Bourne" - - "Which Steven R. Bourne?"

"Steven R. Bourne from Bell Labs" - - "Which Steven R. Bourne from Bell Labs?"

"The software guy" - - "Oh, OK I'll connect you."
