Talk:Stephen C. O'Connell

[edit] Regarding Race
"He safely led the University through a turbulent period of anti-war and racial protests."
This seems pretty revisionist. Here's a quote from a Gainesville Sun article:
"In 1971, the Black Student Union protested low black enrollment at UF by conducting a sit-in in O'Connell's office. Sixty-six students were arrested.
When O'Connell did not grant them complete amnesty, prompting a third of UF's black students and several black faculty members left the university."
