Steven Mead is a British Euphonium Virtuoso and a world renowned ambassador of the brass instrument Euphonium. Born in 1962 in Bournemouth, he started 'brass' training at age 6 when the euphonium was still too big to play for him. His general love for music had him passing grade 8 singing exam with distinction at age 12, as a boy soprano. Changing instruments from tenor horn and baritone horn to euphonium at age 11 he was aligned for his present career as world-recognized euphonium solo player.[neutrality disputed][citation needed]
