Steven Dale Updike (b. 1948) is an American politician and the current mayor of Huntington, Indiana, serving since 2008.
[edit] Early Life and Education
Updike attended Huntington High School where, among other things, he served as manager for the 1964 state runners-up, Huntington Vikings basketball team. A notable classmate of Steve's was former US Vice President, J. Danforth Quayle. After graduation, Steve served with the United States Army in Vietnam. Upon returning to Indiana he worked for the Erie Lackawanna Railway then served as a police officer for the Huntington Police Department from 1983 to 2007, including one term as Chief of Police.

Prior to becoming mayor, Updike served as a Huntington County Commissioner.
