Steve Mackey

Steven Patrick "Steve" Mackey (born 10 November 1966) is a British musician, best known for playing bass guitar in the band Pulp.
Mackey was born in Sheffield, England. A graduate of London's Royal College of Art, Mackey joined Pulp in 1988. The first album he played on was Separations, and he continued to play with the band as they reached the height of their success during the mid 1990s. He played on all Pulp albums recorded in this period including Intro, His 'n' Hers, Different Class, This Is Hardcore, and We Love Life.
In 2005 he played a cameo role as one of the The Weird Sisters, rock band in the film of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The fictitious group also featured Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker, as well as Jonny Greenwood and Phil Selway from Radiohead, and Jason Buckle from Relaxed Muscle and Steve Claydon from Add N to (X).
Since then he went on to form the production duo Cavemen with Ross Orton. Mackey himself and Cavemen have carried out Production work on numerous albums and tracks for artists such as M.I.A., Kelis, Cornershop, Long Blondes and Bromheads Jacket. He also played bass guitar on Jarvis Cocker's first solo album, Jarvis (2006) and played with Cocker, Richard Hawley and Ross Orton on the song "Drop of Nelson's Blood" on Rogue's Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs and Chanteys.
Also in 2006, along with Jarvis Cocker, he curated the 2 CD compilation, The Trip, which features a wide selection of tracks by artists as varied as The Fall, Gene Pitney and The Beach Boys.
Mackey lives in London, with his son Marley and girlfriend Katie Grand.
