Doocy was born in Algona, Iowa, and raised in Kansas. He attended Kansas grade schools in Russell, Salina, and Industry; junior high in Wakefield; and high school in Clay Center, Kansas. He graduated from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, with a B.A. in journalism.

[edit] Career

Currently Doocy is the host of Fox News Channel's Fox & Friends and Fox & Friends First.

Prior to joining the Fox News Channel, Doocy anchored the morning newscast on CBS-TV's flagship station WCBS-TV in New York City. Previously, he was the co-host of Wake Up America on NBC cable, the host of NBC’s nationally syndicated program House Party with Steve Doocy, a remake of the 1960s Art Linkletter show, and the host of Not Just News on Fox. For six years, Doocy was the feature reporter for WRC in Washington, D.C. and the NBC Television Stations division. His early television jobs included news reporter positions in Kansas City, Wichita, Topeka, and Des Moines.

Doocy was the live Times Square reporter on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve on ABC-TV for four ball drops and in 2004 co-hosted Fox News Channel's All American New Year.

In October 2006, Doocy's first book, The Mr. and Mrs. Happy Handbook, a book about marriage and family life, became a New York Times best-seller. It was published by William Morrow, a division of HarperCollins.

Doocy's son Peter gained a small amount of fame in April, 2008, after winning the opportunity to ask John McCain, the presumptive Republican candidate for the US presidential race in 2008, about his thoughts on Hillary Clinton, a Democratic contender, during a segment of the MSNBC show Hardball. “I was wondering if you think that she’s finally resorted to hittin' the sauce just 'cause of some unfavorable polling, and I was wondering if you would care to join me for a shot after this,” Peter asked, referencing what had been a recent Clinton appearance at a bar in Indiana during which she took an on-camera shot of whiskey.

[edit] Personal life

Doocy lives in Wyckoff, New Jersey, with his wife, Kathy Gerrity, and their three children, Peter (20), a student at Villanova University, Mary (18), and Sally (14).
