Steve Azzara

Steve Azzara is a celebrity photographer. Born and raised in New York City, he launched his career at the age of 17 when he shot the 1973 Sing It Again Rod album cover for Rod Stewart and progressed to shooting for music magazines. His photo subjects were diverse from heavy metal bands to gospel performers and included touring with Sly and The Family Stone. He continued to live and work in New York City, graduating to photography of fashion, portraiture, architecture, and interior art. Shooting people such as Tony Bennett, Toni Braxton, and spending a week with the Dalai Lama, he became a sought-after photographer in New York, landing a regular position with Detour magazine. Since then his work has been published in major magazines, book covers, and CD covers throughout the world over the last 30 years. His images have appeared in major publications such as Time Magazine, People, US, Rolling Stone, Vogue, Harper's, San Francisco, Jane, New York, and newspapers such as The Daily News, New York Post, LA Times, Boston Globe, and The Academy Awards.

In early 2007 he was named Director of Photography for Supermodels Unlimited Magazine and photographed four covers for the magazine that year as well as the January 2008 double cover which features Miss Teen USA 2007, Hilary Cruz. Other magazine covers in 2007 include Tiki Barber, Andrea Roth of Rescue Me, Amber Lee Ettinger of "Obama Girl" fame, Laura Belle Bundy who appears on Broadway in Legally Blonde, and the final cover of the year featuring Katrina Bowden of "30 Rock" for Steppin' Out (magazine). He has also shot the Jan/Feb. 2008 and Mar/April covers for HIV Plus Magazine. Once again 2 of his images have been selected by Eileen Guggenheim for the Annual Take Home A Nude auction to benefit the New York Academy of Art. The images are a nude and a portrait of the Dalai Lama.
