Steven "Steve" Austria is a Republican member of the Ohio Senate, representing the 10th District since 2001. Previously he was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 1998 until 2000.
In 2004, Austria easily won re-election to the Senate by defeating his Democratic challenger Charlie Hart, a Springfield, Ohio-area farmer. Austria is the Republican nominee for the US House of Representatives from Ohio's 7th congressional district to replace retiring Congressman Dave Hobson. He is facing a formidable opponent in Sharen Neuhardt, who managed to outraise Austria in the 1st quarter of the 2008 finance period.
