[edit] Wisconsin Engineer Magazine
Zwickel is the faculty advisor for the quarterly magazine, which is older than the Badger Football team. During class meetings, Zwickel gives half hour to 45 minute lectures on various components involved with making a magazine. Lecture topics have included advertising, photoshop, layout, and writing. Zwickel hopes to one day have a popcorn machine for the class meetings.
Zwickel's goals for the Fall of 2008 include:
- Increasing involvement from students outside of engineering
- Revising assignments for students taking the course for credit
- Improving the organization of the project assigned to students who are in their third semester of the class
- Maintain the quality and style the magazine expects in each issue
- Have meetings whose purpose is to discuss the goals of the magazine
Zwickel stipulated that there needs to be no major changes to magazine related operations. He was adament that the magazine was turning out fine the way things were; Zwickel even went as far as to cite the famous adage: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".
[edit] Misconceptions
Zwickel once confused Cold Stone (the ice cream chain) with Stone Cold Steve Austin (the wrestler). Zwickel did not appear to be embarrassed at all by this.
