"In January 1938 he also became head of the Soviet Control Office deputy prime minister of the USSR. However, with the advent of the Great Purge, by order of Joseph Stalin, on May 3, 1938 Kosior was deprived of all party posts and arrested by the NKVD..."
This wasn't the advent of the purge; actually it was towards the end of it. Apparently he was still in favor in Jan. 1938 (by which time the purges had peaked), but fell shortly thereafter. So obviously this needs a little reworking and explanation (which I'm not knowledgeable enough to do). Everyking 02:20, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
