Star Catcher is a pegasus Pony in Hasbro's line of G3 My Little Pony toys. She was released in 2004 as part of the G3 line and this release has since been discontinued. She was released again in 2007 as a decorating pony and a single.

In one children's My Little Pony book, Belle of the Ball, Star Catcher was incorrectly referred to as a male.[1]

[edit] First release

Star Catcher was released in 2004 with the VHS tape Dancing in the Clouds, a brush and a tiara. She was the first pegasus to be released in the G3 line and the only pegasus to have fabric wings attached to her body. Subsequent G3 pegasi had molded wings, similar to their G1 counterparts.

Star Catcher was released again in 2007 as a Decorating Pony. Featuring white molded wings instead of blue fabric ones, she was released with a white comb and two "ice pens" and was much larger than regular Ponies. When filled with water and frozen, the pens could be used to draw colorful patterns on her body, with warmth returning her body back to its usual white. To coincide with her style change, the purple swirl markings on her body were lightened and moved slightly.

Later in 2007 Star Catcher was released as part of the Favorite Friends assortment, packaged with a pink barrette. Her purple swirl markings were removed in favor of a gradient of light blue stars on her display side hind leg. She had molded white wings as before.

[edit] Animated features

Star Catcher has appeared in three of the My Little Pony animated features. She is drawn differently to the first release of her toy counterpart in that she has white wings instead of blue. She is voiced by Lenore Zann

[edit] Dancing in the Clouds

Star Catcher first appeared in the direct-to-video animated feature Dancing in the Clouds.

Skywishes makes an extra-special wish to help Twinkle Twirl with a complicated dance called Dancing in the Clouds. After chasing a kite ("Catch a kite and make a wish!"), she meets Star Catcher. Star Catcher takes her to the secret home of the pegasus Ponies on Butterfly Island. There, Star Catcher's butterflies show Sky Wishes what it's really like to "dance in the clouds". With the butterflies' help, Twinkle Twirl's dance is pulled off successfully.

[edit] Friends Are Never Far Away

Friends Are Never Far Away was released on DVD in 2006 with the My Little Pony toy Hidden Treasure.

Apart from the meeting of Skywishes and Star Catcher, the Ponies and pegasus Ponies have never met. Star Catcher tries to encourage the shy pegasus Ponies to go to a party in Ponyville and meet the Ponies, but the pegasi are hesitant. Eventually the Ponies decide to take the party to the pegasi on Butterfly Island. Skywishes and Star Catcher are delighted that the different Ponies finally meet and have fun together.

[edit] A Very Minty Christmas

Star Catcher is chosen to place the Here Comes Christmas Candy Cane on top of the Ponyville Christmas tree.
