Stanford Law Review
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Stanford Law Review is a legal journal produced independently by Stanford Law School students. Founded in 1948, the Review's first president was future U.S. Secretary of State Warren Christopher. The review produces six issues yearly between November and May. It contains articles on current legal issues and other matters of law written by students, professors, lawyers and judges. The Law Review is widely heralded as one of the finest venues for publishing legal scholarship and hosts a yearly symposium that brings together some of America's finest legal scholars. Alumni of the Stanford Law Review include former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor and former Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist.
The leadership of the Stanford Law Review has long reflected the diversity of the Stanford Law School. The first black student to hold the position of president was Vaughn C. Williams, elected in 1968. Brooksley Born, elected in 1963, was the first woman to hold the post.

[edit] Admissions
The Stanford Law Review selects members based on a competitive exercise that tests candidates on their editing skills and legal writing ability. There is not a firm number of accepted candidates each year; recent classes of new editors have ranged from about 40 to 45. The candidate exercise is distributed to candidates after the completion of their first year at the Law School. Transfer students are also eligible for admission through the same process.
