The Hedge Nettle (Stachys ajugoides) is a nettle found in lowland or swampy areas along the coast of California and Oregon. It has serrate leaves, about 4 inches long, and grows straight up from the ground. Its most identifiable characteristic is its strong musky odor, hence the nickname "stinky stachys".
