St McDara's Community College is a co-educational (mixed), vocational, non-denominational and non fee paying post primary school on Wellington Lane, Templeogue, Dublin 6w. It is located beside the Templeogue entrance to Tymon Park, which leads to Tallaght and Greenhills where many McDara's students are from. Its catchment area is Templeogue (where applicant students have priority and over half the students are from), Tallaght, Kingswood (where a special bus goes to and from daily), Kilnamanagh, Jobstown, Greenhills, Crumlin, Walkinstown, Rathfarnham, Knocklyon, Terenure and notably Blessington, Co. Wicklow; Ballymore Eustace, Co. Kildare and Baltinglass, Co. Wicklow.
It is a school noted for high exam results and being in the top five feeder schools to UCD (although not noted in the Irish Times in 1995).[citation needed] It has been the top feeder school to IT, Tallaght for many years and is a sought after school by DCU for GAA scholarships.
Its main sports are Gaelic football, hurling, basketball and soccer for boys and camogie and soccer for girls. The school has been successful in Badminton, Tennis and Swimming and recently has begun making advances in Rugby.
