St. James's University Hospital in Leeds, England, popularly known as Jimmy's, is one of the United Kingdom's most famous hospitals. Its fame derives in part from its extensive television coverage in the documentary series also titled "Jimmy's", screened by Yorkshire Television (YTV) between 1987 and 1994.

The University of Leeds has a large presence at the St James's site with a new molecular medicine centre, the LIMM building. Also the William Tweedle clinical science building which houses several of the academic research departments as well as a university library. A large amount of medical and nursing teaching takes part within the hospital

All of the Hospital buildings are named after surrounding Streets. The current Hospital wings are:

  • Beckett's Wing - Care of the Elderly
  • Bexley Wing
  • Gledhow Wing
  • Lincoln Wing
  • Chancellors Wing

It is one of Europe's largest teaching hospitals and is one of six centres which conduct liver transplants. St James's was the location of the first live liver transplant on the NHS[1]. It is part of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, along with the Leeds General Infirmary, Seacroft Hospital, Wharfedale Hospital, The Leeds Chest Clinic, Chapel Allerton Hospital and until its forthcoming closure, Cookridge Hospital. Both St James's and the Leeds General Infirmary are extensively involved in the teaching of medical students and junior doctors.

A New Oncology wing has just been built called the Bexley Wing. This has created Europe's largest Oncology department.

The Thackray Medical Museum adjoins the hospital site.
