St. Mary's Convent was established by Mother Salesia Reiner in 1878. The institution is a Roman Catholic institution and run/managed by Sisters belonging to IBMV order. The school provides schooling exclusively to girls from Prep to 12th under ICSE and ISC Board. The school is also referred to as “Ramnee” and “Sonn”. The admission process starts right from the month of March when the registration forms can be purchased from the school for Prep & 1st standard. The entrance test for these classes is held in late September or early October. The school session runs from March to November. 10th & 12th students sit for the ICSE & ISC Board Examination in March.

The school’s current roll strength is about 1000, with abou one third of the students being boarders.. The school is affiliated to the council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations and prepares students for the ICSE and ISC examinations.

Image:School Front School Front== The school is situated at an altitude of about 2,000 meters above mean sea level amidst idyllic surroundings of the Kumaon Hills. It has a salubrious climate which is quite conducive to studies as well as games, sports and other co-curricular activities. This school is exclusively meant for girls between the age group of 8 to 18 years. The school’s main focus is on academic excellence but provides enough opportunity for the all-round development of student personality. It has three playing fields, a Basket Ball Court, and a Skating Rink to provide sufficient scope for physical development.

Basket Ball, athletics, Volleyball, table tennis and Badminton are the principal games. A wide range of cultural and co-curricular activities allow for the development of communication and inter-personal skills.Each and every student takes part in the annual sports function which generally takes place in the month of May.

Strict discipline is maintained, while still allowing enough freedom for the students. Since the students represent the school wherever they go, they are taught about the importance of their uniform, and their behavior. The students are very sophisticated in their manner. Matrons teach young students to look and behave their very best, always keeping in mind the honor of the school.
