St. Josephs School - Abu Dhabi

St. Josephs School was established in 1967 and was managed by H.E. Bishop Bernard Gremoli, the then Bishop of the Vicarate of Arabia. Today, the Carmelite Sisters of St. Theresa administer the day to day working of the school. The present principal is Sister Agnesita. The old school building was located on the corniche, in the 80's the school was moved to its current location.

The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. The medium of instruction is English. In the Senior Secondary there are two streams (Science and Commerce), which can be chosen by students or advised by the teachers to choose.

The school has recorded a 100% pass ever since its affiliation to the CBSE in 1989. The results 2007 were the second highest in UAE.[citation needed]

[edit] Work Experience, Arts and Crafts

A variety of arts and crafts are taught at the school, such as needlework, foil embossing, drawing and painting. The seniors from class VII learn Work Experience. All students were divided into house were they earn merits and demerits. The houses are rose, shamrock, sunflower.

The school library has been updated with encyclopaedias, reference books and other reading materials to satisfy the needs of all the classes. The library also has a qualified full-time librarian.

[edit] Science and Computer Laboratories

The science laboratories have been fully equipped with apparatus, specimens, slides, models and charts to meet the requirements of all classes. The school is also equipped with sufficient computers to cater to classes VII to XII.
