St. John's High School is a well known school in Ranchi, Jharkhand, India. The school whose full name is has an illustrious history. It was founded in 1887 and named the following year after Saint John Berchmans (1599-1621), a young Belgian Jesuit who had been canonised in Rome on that particular year. The school is situated at Purulia Road, and runs classes from class 7 to class 10. Classes 1 to 6 are taught by co-located St. John's Middle School, operated by the same management.
The school is situated next to its sister institution St. Xavier's College, Ranchi. Both institutions are run by the Jesuits, a religious order of the Catholic church, and provide quality and affordable education to tribal and poor students. This is one of the leading school in Jharkhand. It is a Hindi medium school and is affiliated with the Jharkhand School Examination Board for Class 10 exams.
The school excels in Board exams. The students participate in co-curricular activities and excel in social work. The Wholistic Development society (established: 1990 by Bibhu Choudhary and Animesh Kumar) is instrumental in inculcating the spirit of social responsibility among all members of the school.Diamond Knowledge Rays(DKR) is other society, which takes part in organising events at inter schools level such as inter school painting, Quiz etc.
School takes pride in producing best minds from the Ranchi area and have alumni base all over India, USA ,UK and many other developed countries.
