Alex Weiss, born in Henley-on-Thames September 24th 1937, the only son of Roberto Weiss, is a former RAF pilot who, after 27 years spent working in the electronics industry, set about writing a number of books, the best known of which is Workshop Electrics. In 2001 he obtained a Phd with UCL in The use of Commercial Off-the-Shelf Information Technology in operational defence equipment, and is now pursuing further studies into Defining and measuring value in the MoD's acquisition policy of obtaining best value for money as well as writing a new book. He is married and lives in Chalfont St Giles. During his working career he visited over 50 countries. For many years he designed, built and flew his own model aircraft.
