Cyber Assassination

Definition: The act or practice by which an individual or group is subject of an attack using computer technology that is specifically designed to discredit them and to call into question their credibility or loyalty. It is the harmful portrayal of a particular person or group’s reputation.

Cyber Espionage

Definition: The act or practice of using a computer systems device of related device that can access the internet for spying or of using software programs that spies to obtain secret information, as about individuals, governments or a businesses competitors.

The world runs on information and computers store, process and transfer information across networks. Given the vast amount of information stored digitally, covert operations are routinely undertaken to illegally access this information of military, political or financial gains and is some cases amusement.
