[edit] Fictional character biography
Spyder is the alien head of the Webb, an intergalactic trading organization. His principal interest, however, is the gaining of wealth through unscrupulous business practices.
Due to failed business dealings, the brother of the alien known as Gosamyr was forced to forfeit his freedom and that of his family members to Spyder. Spyder took Gosamyr as his personal slave. When he sent his minions to capture Lila Cheney, Gosamyr stowed away as an attempted escape. Cheney was captured, and Gosamyr befriended her friends the New Mutants. They all journeyed to Spyder's planet, but he was able to capture them. The New Mutants escaped and battled Spyder's forces, destroying his palace. The New Mutants and Gosamyr were ultimately able to escape thanks to Magik's teleportation power.
