Spurgeon's

Spurgeon's, formely Spurgeon's Child Care, is a charity based in England with international projects in Mexico, Africa and Eastern Europe.

Spurgeon's was founded in 1867 by Charles Haddon Spurgeon, to care for fatherless boys (the first girls were accepted in 1879). The original orphanage, in Stockwell, was the base for most of the charity's first century, until a move to Reigate and then Birchington, in Kent.

The orphanage was closed in 1979. Since then the charity's work has grown and developed across the UK and around the world.

The name, along with others of lesser known charities, is currently being used in an internet fraud scam.

Spurgeon's head office is based in Rushden with regional offices based in Manchester and Bedford. The country is then divided up into different regions each run by a manager who has direct responisblity for any projects operating in the area. Spurgeon's works with families, children and young people. It currently has operations supporting Young Carers and providing anger management and self esteem groups for teenagers.
