Spridprogramm and spridprogram is a German and Swedish term referring to shareware and freeware. In German, this term usually refers to freeware while the Swedish one refers to shareware. In some variants of "technology-Swedish" (Teknologisvenska), spridprogramm may also refer to computer worms, such as Blaster or Sasser.
In "Härte-Deutsch" (Hardness German), Spridprogramm refers often to freeware software. The German spelling "Spridprogramm" has been used by Apple. By this, the term is often associated with Macintoshes.
It has also been proposed that the spelling and word "spridprogram" should be incorporated into Norwegian.
Today, German "Spridprogramm" is the most widely used word while the Swedish "spridprogram" is rarely used.
