Spreewald (ship)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Spreewald was a German ship operating during the Second World War.

It came to an unfortunate end. It was sunk by mistake a German U-Boat, the U-333, while disguised as a Norwegian ship. At the time it was carrying prisoners transferred to it by the German auxiliary cruiser Kormoran.

The captain of the U-boat was court-martialled but acquitted as he had made an honest mistake.
