Talk:Sports Car International Top Sports Cars

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I detect a strong anti-American sentiment here. The C6 z06 should without question be on the 2000's list. Also, anybody who knows anything about cars knows that Lamborghini's cars (especially the Murcielago) are poseur cars driven by Lottery winners. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.113.173.183 (talk) 05:53, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

It is a joke that the Skyline GT-R is not in the 90's or 60's (the KPGC-10 was one of the best of the era) list but the 300zx is. are all u on crack??

Is this a joke? Nissan Skyline in 1st place in 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s?

Some misguided people continually redo the list to match their own preferences. It has been fixed, and I am considering protecting the page... --SFoskett 16:27, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
Morons.

They have once again vandalized the list. Too bad the editors wouldn't let me protect it... --SFoskett 20:49, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

I've noticed that the 'Enzo Ferrari' is now listed as the best of all time, while only the 3rd best of the 2000s. This struck me as wierd, so I checked the Japanese and Dutch translations. These both list the 250 GTO as number one of all time.
I don't know which is correct, but the English article is the only one with the Enzo at number one.
Perhaps someone who knows the true order can correct this? I was certainly confused by this and my initial bewilderment cast doubts on the authenticity of the list.

I love this list! Several cars I have owned and many that I would like to drive are on there.

It makes perfect sense to me to include the Miata (MX5 in Australia) as it's such a joy to drive and is really what sports cars are all about. Reminds me of my Triumph TR6 although it was modeled after the Lotus Elan.

Putting the GTO higher on the all time list than the list for it's decade does not seem inconsistent to me. Because in hind sight it's a lot easier to appreciate what a classic it was. I remember when Ferrari Dino 246's were dirt cheap 15 year old cars, and Jaguar E-types were also cheap in the early 80's. Now they are really appreciated for the classics they were and command very high values.

[edit] 250 GTO

So how can the Ferrari 250 GTO (first produced in 1962) be only the eighth best car of the 1960s, yet the best of all time? i don't know i think its cool

I don't know, but if you ask me, I can't see how the Lancia Delta Integrale was not included anywhere. But, they are just journalists.. :)
wow, not one Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Fiat. they listed the Toyota Mk1 MR2 instead of the car it copied, the Fiat X1/9. ok, I could go on and on, I'll stop now. :)
Well, you would also ask why the Miata is the number one of the 90s, ahead of the McLaren F1, and yet it is in tenth in the all time list, with the McLaren in 2nd place. The whole list is a little inconsistent, yet maybe comparing cars of different times makes the list a little tricky. I mean, after all, anyone would agree that the Porsche 959 is a far better car in any aspect than the Miata, but it didn't make it to the list of the all time best cars while the Miata did. I would go on and say that each car represented something important or significant in its existence, and that's what got them in their respective positions. --Cirilobeto 06:28, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

What I want to know is why the Miata is on the Top 10 list of anything. Sure it's a decent car, but not worthy of top ten. I could name thirty cars in sixty seconds that deserve a top ten spot more than a Miata. This is simply ridiculous. I wish people would just leave correct stuff on Wikipedia alone.

If you want to know why the Miata belongs, go to a race track someday. Ask the drivers what the top 10 sports cars of the 1990s were. Most will include the Miata, and many will list it in a very high position. Then notice what gets driven on the track - half of the cars on some of these track days are Miatas, especially spec racers. These cars are incredibly popular sports cars, cheap, easy to drive, durable, etc. They absolutely belong. --SFoskett 14:24, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] All time #5 Mercedes Benz 300SL replaced with Mazda RX-7 ??

The list should be protected.

The #5 Mercedes Benz 300SL was replaced with the Mazda RX-7. While I have nothing against the Mazda RX-7, the list should be as what SCI magazine came out with.

I edited the Mazda RX-7 back to Mercedes Benz 300SL. Xfiremaxx 02:32, 14 February 2007 (UTC)xfiremaxx Feb. 14, 2007

[edit] McLaren F1 replaced by Veyron?

What happened to the McLaren F1 in second place? Was the change to the Veyron official? If not somebody please change it back. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 219.89.44.48 (talk) 13:18, 21 March 2007 (UTC).

[edit] is this a joke? (2000 list)

I don't see the S7 on that list? nor the Corvette Z06. I don't mean to tout American iron, but none of the cars on that list can compare track records of either of those cars except for maybe the WRX and the GT3, the others are just expensive play things with little usefulness.
