The Subaru Legacy is a popular example of a sport utility sedan.

A sport utility sedan is a sedan that conforms to the SUV specification, but with some exceptions. Unlike most SUVs, a sport utility sedan is usually shaped more like a sedan than a station wagon (i.e. has a trunk separate from the cab); typically they have more car-like riding and suspension features but don't tow as much weight.

This specification started with the Moskvitch 410 in the 1950s which was ahead of it's time as both a sport utility sedan, and a crossover SUV. The AMC Eagle was introduced in the 1980s and was a more popular example of a sport utility sedan.

However recent introductions such as the Spyker D12 have defined the specification with more luxury and more clearance.
