[edit] Functionality
Spongecell is a free event marketing and promotions platform. The software generates ajax and flash widgets, and dynamic event pages that allow promoters the ability to have viewers invite friends, add to online calendars, set text/email reminders, and add to various social networks. Spongecell provides real-time tracking from these widgets and event pages which Spongecell users can then use to send targeted email/SMS blasts.
[edit] History
The company was founded in 2005 by a team composed mostly of Carnegie Mellon Computer Science graduates. After launching a groundbreaking natural language web calendar in 2006, they took funding from a group led by Halo Venture Partners, including The Interpublic Group of Companies (IPG) and the Pilot Group. Spongecell Promote, launched in 2007, has already been used in campaigns by the Yari Film Group, Lucky Jeans, and CNN.
