Sphenocephalus is an extinct genus of ray-finned fish which lived in the Cretaceous period. It was about 20 cm (8 in) long and one of the first perciforms.
Sphenocephalus had a rather long head, and pelvic fins which were placed under the pectoral fins. This increased the fish's agility. Sphenocephalus may have resembled the modern black bass in appearance.
