A stray dog interrupts a pair of teenagers about to have sex in Central Park late at night; the dog leads them to a man running away from a woman (Danielle Masoner) who is having seizures. The girl asks the woman if she had been raped, and the woman appears to nod before she dies. Danielle’s husband Wes tells Stabler about her life before his friends Glenn and Naomi Cheales come to pay their respects; later, Stabler watches a videotape of Danielle leaving a local coffeehouse, followed by her meeting with a local homeless man (Mr. Keener).
Stabler goes to the homeless camp near Central Park and finds Keener with a picture of Danielle; then Keener tries to attack him with a knife. They then go to the hospital, where the doctor tells Stabler that Keener cannot speak due to Broca’s aphasia. Keener is able to answer Stabler (and Benson)’s interview questions anyway via a whiteboard, and they learn that the other man he saw with Danielle in the coffee shop has salt-and-pepper hair and a broken arm. They find the man (Steve), who states that he lived with Wes and Danielle, that he overheard Wes having phone sex with another woman, and that Wes threatened him.
The detectives pick Wes up from his dance company and he insists that what Steve said are all lies; then his lawyer(Stella Danquiss) takes him home. The detectives then go to the Cheales’ residence where Glenn demonstrates that he equipped the house for keyless entry via RFID technology. Then Glenn tells Stabler that Wes is cheating with a woman named Jen, while Naomi tells Benson that he isn’t cheating at all. Later, Warner reveals that Danielle’s cause of death was dieldrin poisoning. After Munch reports that Wes was the sole beneficiary of Danielle’s estate when she died, his house is searched and Stabler finds a vial of dieldrin just before his mistress arrives, who turns out to be Naomi.
After Wes and Naomi are brought to the police station and placed in separate rooms, Danquiss gets the indictment thrown out because it is circumstantial, but then it reemerges when records show that a vial of dieldrin was bought with Wes’ credit card (which Wes denies). Glenn then arrives and tells the detectives that he’s worried because Naomi never came home, and then Stabler sends him into the room to confront her. After he storms out, Naomi collapses, and after arriving at the hospital, the doctor says that she has alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency, but she collapsed because there was an un-sterilized RFID chip in her shoulder.
The detectives take Glenn to the hospital to show him how sick Naomi is, and right after Glenn explains why he implanted the chip, she passes out. Glenn then confesses to the detectives that he bought the dieldrin and that he poisoned Danielle and then hid the vial under Wes’ sink. Wes then arrives at the hospital, and he and Glenn fight; later, Novak berates Benson and Stabler for taking Glenn to the hospital and for allowing the fight. Cragen then reports that Naomi’s liver failed and Glenn’s liver is a match, but Novak says that he is ineligible to donate a lobe of his liver because he had been placed under arrest. The detectives then plead with the corrections commissioner to allow Glenn out temporarily to donate, and he reluctantly agrees.
