[edit] Upcoming Cyberman TV story
I was going to put something on this page about the apparent similarities between this story and Tom MacRae's upcoming Cyberman 2-parter in the new TV series, but realized it was too speculative. All I've got is that it's supposed to take place on an "alternate Earth" (isn't that what Mondas is, more or less, in this story?) and the similarity of the character names Yvonne Hartley and Yvonne Hartman. But it sure looks to me as if the production team is adapting Spare Parts, just like how they adapted Jubilee into Dalek. —Josiah Rowe 21:08, 27 October 2005 (UTC)
- Yeah, we've been expecting it to be. RTD has never confirmed it, but even during series one when people on OG were talking about adapting more stories along the lines of Jubliee, Spare Parts was top of the list, mainly because RTD stated that it, along with Holy Terror, was some of the "best drama written for any genre" (in the introduction to Doctor Who: The New Audio Adventures - the Inside Story). We also know that Platt would probably never get the job because he has no non-Who credits unlike Rob Shearman, so it would have to be someone else adapting it, if at all. But without an official confirmation, it does seem speculative. --khaosworks (talk • contribs) 22:41, 27 October 2005 (UTC)
No, Mondas takes place in our dimension while the Earth the Cybus Cybermen came from is in another dimensions. So canoncity may not be ruled out. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.73.127.139 (talk) 02:32, August 27, 2007 (UTC)
- The comment above was originally placed beneath my comment from October 2005, but is really responding to a remark about canonicity which used to be on the article page. (My remark was made long before the episode aired.) I agree that no conclusions about canonicity can be drawn from the fact that Spare Parts was loosely adapted for television. For that matter, no absolute conclusions can be drawn about canonicity anywhere in Doctor Who, even in the adaptation of Human Nature. Since there have been no statements about canonicity from the producers, and (as far as I know) no remarks on the subject in reliable sources, we really have to leave it at "uncertain". —Josiah Rowe (talk • contribs) 03:13, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
