SpanishDict is an online Spanish-English dictionary, translation, and language learning website. Site visitors can lookup English and Spanish words in a multiple bidirectional dictionaries. The website has an forum for online translation assistance and language questions. The translation feature pulls translations from three additional Spanish translation websites for comparison of results on one page. The site also hosts an online database of user-generated Spanish lessons. Lessons come in written, audio, and video formats.[1] Site visitors can interact with one another with social networking functionality.
The forum is divided into 11 catagories: Announcements (Anuncios); Vocabulary (Vocabulario); Proofreading (Corrección de textos); Grammar (Gramática); Spanish Culture (Cultura); Hola Forum; Congrat pages (Celebraciones); Travel Talk (Discusión de Viajes); Sólo Español: ¡Practica!; What do I have to do to....? (¿Qué tengo que hacer para...?); and Website Feedback (Comentarios y Sugerenicas).[2] The forum allows members to ask Spanish-related questions, share personal news, share travel experiences and leave website feedback in the form of text posts.[3]

As of May 2001, 1,100,000 people (unique visitors) access SpanishDict each month. The site demographics are balanced in terms of gender. The largest demographic on the site are 12-17 year olds. The SpanishDict online community is comprised of 10,240 members as of May 2008.[11] Members are a mix of both native and non-native Spanish speakers from around the world including the United States, Spain and Latin America.[12] SpanishDict members have the ability to post on the forum, create a personal "My Page" and can access all features of the site. Advanced members of the SpanishDict community are given "Ambassador" status by the webmaster. Ambassadors welcome newcomers to the online community and help answer Spanish-related questions posted by other members on the forum.[13] Several Ambassadors are moderators of different threads on the forum.

SpanishDict started in 1999 [14] as a Spanish-English dictionary with audio pronunciations of the words. It has since expanded to include translations, verb conjugations, social networking, and Spanish lessons.
