Talk:Southern France
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Aquitaine is not on the mediteranean but on the atlantic side of southern france. In france we often consider that the south is divided in two group of region wich climate, vegetation and habits varies a lot : is "sud-est" for the mediteranean regions and corsica. and "sud-ouest" for the aquitaine and midi-pyrenes regions
"North France is western europe, while southern is south europe.."
I'm French, I'm sorry but southern France is as much part of western Europe as the southern part. Italy, Spain and Portugal are also part of western europe. I don't see the reason to oppose western europe and southern europe. I don't see the reason to limit western europe to NORTH-western Europe. Western Europe has two sides : the northern one is germanic (UK, Netherlands, Germany, scandinavia) the other is latin (France, Italy, Spain, Portugal) but both are western european !

You forgot that part of Basque Homeland is situated in South France and Basque language is spoken there long before the Romans came. You also forgot that part of Catalan Homeland is situated in South France as well, in the East Part. This part was lost for the Kingdom of Aragon by the Treaty of the Pirenees in the 17th century. Catalan language is originary of that area too.
[edit] limousin not part of the south
it's a middle state and has no connection whatsoever with the south. People think differently, speak differently and there is no sun in winter.... Abdelkweli 23:08, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
