Talk:South African Boerboel Breeders Association SABBA/SABT

I fail to see how an editor can come to the conclusion, before it is even complete? The SABBA is an international recognised register for the Breed the Boerboel from South Africa, as such it rightly belongs under the dog category of dog Associations, like the AKC and anyone else in the Wikipedia. That is, the only recognised internationally pedigree this breed can have at the moment, has to be issued by the association the SABBA and its sister organisations the EBBASA and HBBSA. So perhaps there might be a need for a new category in the Wiki dog project, Independent dog breed registries, as there are quite a few of them like the working border collie register e.t.c But in this case there is no one else besides the SABBA et al, that can issue pedigrees for this particular breed.

Hi. I was the editor that placed the tag . Regarding the issues of completion: another editor has no way of knowing if the article is "complete," or not. In fact, all Wikipedia articles can be considered works-in-progress. However, an article should have information about notability in it from the time of its creation. The information you've brought up on the talk page just now (about this organization being the only source for pedigree, etc) is just the sort of information that would help establish notability. However, it is not in the article. Placing information such as this in the article would help a great deal. From the current state of the article, a reader gains very little information--when was the organization founded? Dp they have a website? How many members are there? My placing the tag has nothing to do with the merits of the organization--it is about the current state of the article. Please let me know if you have any questions. janejellyroll 03:11, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Yes they certainly have a web site, http://boerboel.co.za/ http://www.sabt.info/ http://www.sabt-usa.org/ three around the world in regions with the most dogs, one in the United kingdom one in America and then also physical offices in many countries across the globe. I will be taking a short break of a couple of weeks so not much will happen with this entry in the meantime, I imagine, though I have some others interested in contributing already so you never know. I am slowly working out how to approach this wikipedea entry and what is the best way to go about it. Thanks for your help, there are certainly a few questions I would love to ask, especially about the format and what I should and shouldn't say and when. Anyway much obliged and I will be here doing my best in two weeks time. The format needs working on, as in the basic structure........I love this, it is all such a nice learning curve.......Frikkers

Yes, I would start with the credentials of the organization. The information you shared above about this being the only group able to issue pedigrees for this breed certainly establishes notability. Including that information, with a source, in the article should be enough. Please let me know if you have any other questions. janejellyroll 21:39, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
