Talk:Sound Recorder (Windows)

[edit] Appearance
Somebody should look for looks of the older versions of Sound Recorder. Also, the article needs some expansion. --SuperDude 00:14, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)

- Older versions of Sound Recorder don't look significantly different from the XP version. The article might need some expansion; that's why it has a stub notice. android↔talk 01:12, Apr 20, 2005 (UTC)

- Yeah, well I created the article and added the images. Many previous versions of Sound Recorder have very little difference in looks (apart from the difference between the title bars at the top). If you do have a previous version of Windows (not XP) then please feel free to go into Sound Recorder and upload the image and show it on the Talk page. You'll see it will be no different.

- You found, or took the shot? hopefully you have rights to release it, although the content shouldn't be an issue. but if the image was taken by somebody else, and put here w/o probably best to re-shoot it. --PidGin128 from 65.190.216.161 (talk) 09:20, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Memory Req.
Isn't it supposed to be "less than 2GB of physical memory"? --89.180.29.211 19:46, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
- Probably not, since 2GB was luxurious when XP was released. [and heretical when 95 was current]. Also it may not strictly be necessary to remove RAM [ which may not be feasible], you can soft limit XP's ram with a boot.ini flag, although the syntax escapes me atm. --PidGin128 from 65.190.216.161 (talk) 09:20, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Vista
Seems the page needs some Vista relevent info to go with the screenshot. The sound recorder works differently in Vista.--72.24.86.95 04:53, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Sound Recorder icon.JPG
Image:Sound Recorder icon.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Found way to make Vista Sound Recorder record .wav files
Typing "%SystemRoot%\system32\SoundRecorder.exe /file outputfile.wav" in the target box on the properties window for the Sound Recorder shortcut will make Sound Recorder save files as .wav files. Could someone running Vista verify this?Vista--99 02:03, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
