From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Southington Fire Department is a combination fire department which serves the incorporated Town of Southington, Connecticut. The department is comprised of five companies within four fire stations. Fire headquarters, at 310 North Main Street, houses Headquarters Company (career) and Engine Company 1 (paid-on-call). There are three additional paid-on-call stations: Company 2 in the village of Plantsville, Company 3 in Milldale and one in the Patton Brook area, Company 5. Company 4, in Marion was merged with Company 3 in 1992.

The apparatus housed in each station are as follows:
HQ/Co1: Engine 11 (HQ), Engine 12 (Co1), Rescue 1, Ladder 1, Ladder 2, Rescue Boat, Brush 1, Cars 1-7
Co2: Engine 21, Engine 22 (2000 gal. tanker), Brush 2
Co3: Engine 31, Engine 32 (50ft TeleSqurt), Brush 3

(Special Resource Unit & Decon Trailer garaged at Co3, operated by HQ)

Co5: Engine 51, Engine 52

Explanation of the numbering of units:

The Engines of the SFD are numbered as such, the first number indicates company, the second number indicates the running order of the piece within the company. For example, Engine 12 is assigned to Company 1, Engine 12 is also the second due piece for HQ/Company 1, hence, Engine 12.

Units such as the brush trucks are numbered according to which company they belong to. Ladder trucks are numbered according to running order. The only unit which does not have a number is the SRU.
