Southgate Road runs from Baring Street in the south to Mildmay Park/Ball's Pond Road junction in the north. Southgate road is located in London Borough of Islington. Southgate Road lies North of Regent's Canal, South of Balls Pond Road/Mildmay Park, West of De-Beauvoir and East of Essex Road. Southgate Road is a very busy road, with people traveling from Winchmore Hill in the North to the city of London in the South. Sam South the famous artist and well kown mad man and his sister katie live on southgate road and have made many sculptures and human skulls to decorate the street. He is also a parctising pastafarian.

Stalin, Lenin and Trotsky all visited Southgate Rd for the 5th Congress of the Russian Social Democratic Workers Party in 1907, which was held at the Brotherhood Church which once stood on the corner of Southgate Road and Balmes Road.

Southgate Road has 3 main bus routes that provide residents direct routes into the City and West end as well as the outer London areas.

Southgate Roas is relatively quiet for a main road, however their are 3 Restuarantes/Bars

  • Rosemary Branch

Bavo serves mediterranean food/drink and was rated the second best restuarante in London in 2007.

Later this year there will also be a Tesco metro opening up under the new apartment building one-N1.

In the past Southgate Road was an underdeveloped region of Islington which didn't get as much attention as Upper Street as the Local Transport Services were not great. In recent years, many new apartment buildings have been built for example:
