South Plains Mall is a 1.2 million square foot shopping mall located in Lubbock, Texas. It is located at the northwest corner of Loop 289 and Slide Road in the busy shopping district of southwest Lubbock.[citation needed]
South Plains Mall is anchored by five major department stores (Sears, Mervyn's, JCPenney, Bealls and two Dillard's) and contains over 150 shops, restaurants and kiosks. The mall serves the entire South Plains region. The mall opened in July 1972 and has undergone three major expansions since then. Many specialty stores, including Abercrombie & Fitch, American Eagle Outfitters, Christopher & Banks, Zumiez, Hollister Co., Victoria's Secret, Bath & Body Works, and GAP, among many others, can be found at South Plains Mall.
