South Media Fire Co.

The South Media Fire Company is the oldest fire company in Nether Providence Township. Although it is located in the town of Media, Pennsylvania, the company, along with the rest of the South Media area, belongs to Nether Providence Township. Incorporated in 1922, the South Media Fire Company No. 1 protects the residents of Nether Providence Township and Rose Valley in Delaware County, Pennsylvania along with its sister company, the Garden City Fire Company No. 1.
These two fire companies form the Nether Providence Township Fire Department.

The South Media Fire Company No. 1 (Station 51) protects 14,400 people living in a 5.4-square-mile (14 km²) area. It protect a primarily residential area. The South Media Fire Company No. 1 is an all volunteer fire company and that has an ISO rating of 4.
Station 51 also assists the Swarthmore Fire And Protective Association (Swarthmore, Pennsylvania), the Media Fire Hook and Ladder Company No. 1 (Media Borough) and the Rose Tree Fire Company #1 (Upper Providence Township) with fire and rescue services.
The fire company also protects Route I-476 (The Blue Route) from Interstate I-95 to US Route 1 along with the Garden City, Springfield and Woodlyn Fire Companies. Media Fire Hook and Ladder Company No. 1 provides ambulance service and Riddle Memorial Hospital Provides paramedic services to its jurisdiction.
