[edit] Route Controversy

[edit] North Ferriby Route

Since the 2006/2007 regenerations of the A63 (the dual carriageway leading to/past the school), many temporary routes have been made for pupils coming from North Ferriby. These routes have been mainly improvised by Workers re-surfacing the roads, these routes commonly were coned off sections of road, or just a sign pointing in a general direction. The lack of clear indication of paths for their children to walk along to get to and from school, and lack of safety barriers on the paths the children had to walk along, created an uproar amongst parents. For three to four months, school pupils often had their route to school changed once or twice daily, before a final, 'official' route was issued in the form of maps and handed to pupils in July 2006. The final route took pupils safely across a designated foot path (with safety barriers) and across a foot bridge, this path lead pupils safely from the Melton area (where the school is situated) to North Ferriby.

[edit] Elloughton Route

Despite no road works taking place along the path to school from the Elloughton side of the A63, many complaints have been made a regarding the fact that students have to cross unguarded paths to get to and from school, sometimes in minimal light. Despite numerous complaints from parents and local residents, no action has been scheduled to take place to combat these problems.
