Souleymane Diawara (born December 24, 1978 in Dakar, Senegal) is a Senegalese footballer who plays as a defender for Girondins de Bordeaux as well as for the Senegal national football team

He has played for Le Havre and FC Sochaux-Montbéliard. Diawara was dropped from the Senegal squad in August 2006, ahead of their friendly with Côte d'Ivoire, due to a breach of discipline.[2]

Diawara signed for Charlton Athletic on a four-year deal for £3.712m on 30 August 2006.[3] He also has a French passport. He joined Girondins de Bordeaux from Charlton Athletic in August 2007 for an initial fee of €3.9m which could rise by €1.2m.[4]
