Sopater (so'-pa-ter, sop'-a-ter[1] (gr Σωπατρoς; Sopatros, "saviour of his father"[2], Easton's reads "The father who saves"[3], Holman's reads “sound parentage”[4]) was the son of Pyrhus[5], may be:

  • Sopater, New Testament figure
  • Sopater (poet), author of at least 12 books of Eclogae" (Eclogues)
  • Sopater of Apamea sophist of the 4th century who suffered death at Constantinople on a charge of binding the winds by magic, because the corn-ships of Egypt and Syria were delayed.
