Pokemon: Den of Ages(commonly known as PDoA) is an online role playing game(ORPG) based off the popular series, Pokemon. It's Blackfyre Dreams' first game set in four exclusive regions only found in the PDoA world. It's creator, Matt Nwachukwu(Silver), started the project a year after starting up his company with his friend and Co-founder, Jesse Bower(Nirvan). This game is unique in the fact that it imitates the Gameboy universe of Pokemon and throws in an online element to allow with interaction with other players.

[edit] Gameplay
[edit] Classes
Pokemon: Den of Ages takes a unique perspective to the way a person plays as a Pokemon trainer. Instead of playing the role of the Pokemon champion, you have a choice of five different classes. These classes are based on actual occupations of people that can be found in either the anime or the manga. Players start off as a Pokemon Trainer, but after accomplishing a certain task, they can take on a job in the world of PDoA. The developers do a good job of keeping the balance between classes, while making it as fair as possible for all players. They use a common system of hindrances and benefits to ensure that no one class is overpowered.
[edit] Pokemon Trainer
This is the class that you start out with. With no hindrances or benefits, it's not that bad being a Pokemon trainer. As a Pokemon trainer, you learn the basics of the game and and experiment with the different classes before picking one to be forever.
[edit] Pokemon Master
Known as the 'battle class'
To become this class is simple. All you have to do is collect 8 badges from any one of the four regions that exist in this world and show them to an NPC labeled champion for that region.
Benefits of a Pokemon Master: You get the 'call' ability in battle, to snap your Pokemon out of confusion and to wake them from sleep. Your Pokemon suffer less from burn and poison. Your Pokemon are affected with paralysis less often. You have a higher encounter rate with pokemon. Your pokeballs are twice as likely to catch a pokemon. If your Pokemon has max happiness, it may endure a hit[If a move were to knock out this pokemon, it doesn't. Instead, the pokemon has 1 hp remaining]. Becoming this class bestows the title "Champion".
Hindrances of a Pokemon Master: Pokemon happiness increase twice as slow. Pokemon gain a little less exp in battle. When you lose a battle, you lose 1/2 money[as opposed to 1/4]. You're unable to run from wild Pokemon, unless you have only one pokemon left. You encounter wild pokemon more often. If your pokemon faints, it losses a little bit of experience, and loses twice as much happiness.
[edit] Pokemon Professor
Known as the 'information class'
This class, based off of a PDoA forum veteran and long time friend to Matt Nwachukwu, Jon Heckman(Professor Media), is easy to become. Catching 150 Pokemon isn't such a bad thing, but it's how you become a professor. Upon catching 150 Pokemon, all different species, you must show them to one of the four Pokemon professors(as there's one for each region).
Benefits of a Pokemon Professor: You get a complete Pokedex[of only seen data, not caught data]. Pokeballs you use have double the chance of catching a Pokemon. Sometimes, if a Pokemon escapes from a pokeball, you get the ball back. Potions, super potions, and hyper potions are twice as effective. You have an increased chance of finding a shiney pokemon in the wild. You get the 'analyze' ability, allowing you to check the stats of any Pokemon in battle, adding them to your Pokedex as caught. Becoming this class bestows the title "Professor".
Hindrances of a Pokemon Professor:You encounter rarer pokemon less often, and common pokemon more often. You receive less money from battles.
[edit] Pokemon Artisan
Known as the 'creation class'
Gathering berries is fun, right? In order to obtain the job of Pokemon Artisan, all the berries that exist in the Pokemon world must be collected and shown to a berry master, the concept of which was taken from the Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald games.
Benefits of a Pokemon Artisan:You're able to create more effective potions and other restore items using berries. You grow twice as many berries in a berry garden. You are able to grow apricots in a berry garden. You're able to create Pokeballs from apricots, including Masterballs[you need to pass a series of tests, gather a lot of materials, and Masterball creation can fail]. You get the 'teach' ability, allowing a Pokemon to use a held man-made item[ie antidotes, potions, full restores, etc]. Becoming this class bestows the title "Engineer".
Hindrances of a Pokemon Artisan:Your created potions lower Pokemon happiness. Items from a Pokemart cost twice as much. You encounter rare pokemon less often. You recieve less money from battles.
[edit] Pokemon Breeder
Known as the 'assistant class'
Becoming this class is actually harder than most. To do it, you must breed fifty different Pokemon species. Having done that, you'll need to show proof of this to an NPC breeder.
Benefits of a Pokemon Breeder: Pokemon hatch from eggs twice as fast. The chance of you hatching a shiny Pokemon are increased. Your Pokemon always have max happiness(unless you're not the OT), and they receive a little more exp in battle(unless you're not the OT). Pokemon breed twice as fast. You are able to breed legendary Pokemon after a series of tests and having to have bred 1337+(the game designers were creative...) pokemon of any type. You get the 'tend' ability, which raises a fallen stat back to normal. Becoming this class bestows the title "Breeder".
Hindrances of a Pokemon Breeder:You are unable to use items that lower or increase a pokemon's happiness. If you're not the OT of a Pokemon, it's happiness raises twice as slow. If you're not the OT of a pokemon, it gains normal experience in battle(meaning, it gets no boosted exp.) You see rare pokemon less often. Your pokeballs are half as effective. If you're not the OT of a Pokemon, you can't breed it unless it has Max Happiness.
[edit] Pokemon Coordinator
Known as the 'diversion class'
Becoming a coordinator is easier than becoming most other classes. It just requires a lot of time. With five Pokemon, you're to increase one of their condition to max, having five Pokemon all with different maxed conditions. After you have your party of five all maxed out, you show them to an NPC coordinator for your coordinator certification.
Benefits of a Pokemon Coordinator:Your pokemon have a 10% chance of inflicting 'dazzle' to a pokemon, if and only if the move you used that turn's condition type matches your Pokemon's maxed condition stat, and your Pokemon has max happiness.(ex, Milotic has to have max beauty, so moves like Blizzard, which is a beauty move, may inflict dazzle.)(Dazzle is a one turn paralysis. Basically, you skip your next turn.) If you inflict dazzle at least once in a battle, you recieve a little more money for it, even if you lose the battle. You get the 'appeal' ability, allowing your Pokemon to use two moves at once[Appealing allows your Pokemon to attack with two moves, combining their powers, types, effects, and accuracy. Appeal can inflict dazzle, even if the moves aren't for the max condition stat of the Pokemon. The power of the combined attack can never exceed 80 percent, meaning a combo like Thunderbolt(95) and Flamethrower(95) will only have a power of 80 but will have the types fire and electric, and may inflict either a burn or paralysis. Stab only applies once(no x3 stab bonuses!), but weakness for both types apply(meaning you can get up to x8 for weakness!) Appealing moves causes the PP to lower by two instead of one, and if Pressured[Pokemon ability] it lowers the PP by 4.]. Becoming this class bestows the title, "Coordinator".
Hindrances of a Coordinator:Gains happiness via items, only. Berries you plant grow twice as slow as they normally would and they may simply not fruit 50% of the time. Pokemon gain a little less exp in battle9even if traded), and lose exp if knocked out in battle(twice as much for Pokemon that aren't the OT). Pokemon knocked out in battle lose half their happiness.
[edit] Appeal(Ability) - Coordinator
You can combine any two moves. Tackle(35 Power) and Growl(0 Power) can be combined to form an attack with 35 Power and lowers attack. Moves are used in the order they're picked. So if you picked Slash before Swords Dance, Slash is used first. Moves like Zap Cannon(50 accuracy) and Aerial Ace(Unavoidable) can combine to make an Unavoidable Zap Cannon, but power is restricted to 80(Instead of Zap's 150), and will inflict Paralysis. Moves that take two turns can not be appealed. Moves like Draco Meteor and Overheat will lower stats twice as much if appealed. Focus Punch, Protect, and Detect can not be appealed. Slakoth and Slaking can not appeal. Moves like Blast Burn and Hyper Beam can be appealed, but will cause your Pokemon to skip the normal one turn. OHKO moves can't be appealed.
[edit] Regions
They are four regions listed in this world, however, Blackfyre Dreams has only revealed information on one region.
[edit] The Naiyo Region
The Naiyo Region is the starting region of this world. All new trainers start off here, where they are greeted by Professor Maple, the region's professor. They start off in a quiet little town named Koto Town where they are to start their journey by heading to the City of Memories.
[edit] The City of Memories
This city is named what it is because in an earlier version of Pokemon: Den of Ages, ex-head mapper, Mango mapped out a very gorgeous city. However, there was a data failure, and most data, including maps, were lost. In grief, Mango left and when PDoA was brought back online, Yuki took over his role along side with DJ Ossa. It wasn't until version 3.x.x that Yuki remapped the city that was lost in the data failure, where then it was named the City of Memories, just because they were in a hurry to map and they named all the cities random generic names. After discussion between Silver and a lot of the admins, they all agreed that the name City of Memories shows that PDoA had History and left the name as it is.
[edit] Development
The staff of PDoA has varied through the ages. It was one summer day in 2004 where it's creator decided to start advertising their website on Gaia Online. On their first they, they had over 200 people register on the forums, anticipating the release of the game. Come that December, 2004, PDoA v1.0.0, ALPHA was launched, displaying basic features that replicated the Gameboy games, and an added chat feature. Silver didn't release any sort of Pokemon based feature until the 2.x.x, ALPHA series. The game is now in the 3.x.x, BETA series, releasing features that make the game have more of a Pokemon feel.
[edit] The Current Staff on PDoA
Matt Nwachukwu(Silver) - Owner, Founder, Lead Programmer
Kazushige Yamazaki(Tabris) - Head of Forum Development
Jeremy Drennan(Pinkeln) - Lead Moderator
Snake Waffles - Current Head Mapper
Navarr Barnier - Backend Developer & Current Server Host
They hire countless mappers constantly, to work on the 2D environment of the game.
They hire countless moderators, both in game and on the forums, to enforce the rules.
[edit] Audio
The developers are really staying true to their imitating the Gameboy games and have gone so far as to use the music in the Diamond/Pearl(newest releases of the Pokemon RPG Series) sound track.
